Englewood, Nj is not far from NYC, yes you can stay in the city, go to Part Authority Bus Terminal then catch bus No. 166x toward Bergenfield it runs on I-95 Express:
Depart : PORT AUTHORITY BUS TERMINAL
Board : Bus No 166X toward BERGENFIELD I-95 EXPRESS
Arrive : ENGLE ST AT PALISADE AVE
